Black and White Wedding Cake

February 14, 2013 by bblondie 23 Comments

Black and white modern wedding cake

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Have you already started digging into chocolate?  Since today is all about love, I thought it would be fitting to share with all of you a recent wedding cake I did.  This was a fun wedding because right from the start they wanted something out-of-the-box.  Their colors were black and white, and they used records as chargers so I was able to create something unique just for them.

First up I worked on the cake and while I don’t have a picture of the inside, check out the filling. The photo alone makes me want to dive right into the bowl!  A three layer vanilla bean cake filled with Oreo cookies and cream filling is heaven.  I wrapped it all up in Italian meringue buttercream and covered it in fondant for a clean look.  Keeping with the simple and modern look they wanted, I decorated it with black circles and added a little disco dust to dress it up.

Next up were the cupcakes.  Here is where I tied in their theme creating little records as toppers. Of course, they needed a little sparkle too!

Did I mention there were a LOT of cupcakes?!  Yup, the little cake was perched on top of a cupcake tower just for the bride and groom.  Guests had their choice of vanilla or chocolate cupcakes all topped with vanilla buttercream.  I love the look of the black cupcake liners, they really dress them up.

Last, here’s a pic of the whole production.  The bride and groom were really happy with it, and they loved the cake!  Word came from friends at the wedding that the cupcakes did not last very long due to everyone going up for seconds!  After all the hours of work that went into this, that was the best thing to hear 🙂  Hope you all have a great day, and for more information on custom cakes and availability just email me!

What a beautiful cake! Our wedding cake was black and white too but it did NOT have oreo creme filling. I wish I knew about you 2 years ago!
