The countdown is on, my friends! Have you put your tree up? Finished your Christmas shopping? Have you even started it? Are you in the midst of cookie baking madness? Please tell me I’m not the only one covered in flour and running solely on cookies for the entire month. It’s the season for baking and sharing, and the sprinkles are flying! I wanted to share my top cookie recipes with so you have them all in one place, and you can get a cookie game plan together. These are the cookies I make over and over again, and more importantly, the ones you love the most!
From homemade Milanos and upgraded crinkles, to my favorite holiday confetti cookies (hello, sprinkles!) there’s something for everyone on your list!
Raspberry Almond Thumbprint Cookies – These pretty thumbprint cookies are on repeat right now and I think they kind of sparkle! And that amaretto glaze is the icing on the cake!
Holiday Confetti Cookies are a staple in my kitchen throughout the season! These little gems melt in your mouth thanks to one secret ingredient , and contain all the sprinkles I could get my hands on!
I should also note that while the sprinkles make these little confections totally Instagram worthy, they also offer a crunch that balances the cookie beautifully!
Once I discovered my love for eggnog a few years back, there was no stopping me! I love sandwich cookies, especially when they’re sandwiched with buttercream – boozy buttercream to be exact! These Gingersnap and Eggnog Cream Sandwich Cookies are one of those that everyone always flips over. In case there’s any doubt, when I made these for a holiday cookie class, they were eating the buttercream from the piping bag! Enough said!
Tip: make sure to under bake the cookies so they stay soft and chewy in the middle!
Speaking of sandwich cookies that speak to my heart, have you tried Homemade Spiked Mint Milanos yet? I told ya I have this thing with Christmas trees! And sprinkles. And boozy deserts…
How about a little chocolate action? Classic turtles get a major upgrade with Turtle Thumbprint Cookies! A light cocoa cookie coated in crunchy pecans and filled with homemade caramel – does it get any better? When you add some flaked sea salt it does! I’m so grateful you guys are loving these as much as we do! Thank you for all your positive feedback!
Speaking of upgrades, let’s talk about these Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies! I don’t know why it took me so long to make this union happen because they’re everything! Crackly, chewy and so festive!
Please note that I recommend using gel based food coloring to get a deeper color.
Apple Cranberry Oatmeal Cookies have been the star of the show throughout the fall and there’s no way I couldn’t include them! They are that classic oatmeal cookie taken up a notch with seasonal staples like applesauce and cranberries. The combination of flavors works incredibly well together and the dark chocolate really adds that lush factor that always keeps me going back for just one more!
These cookies also freeze well, which is always helpful during the holidays. I recommend scooping the dough and storing it in an airtight container in the freezer so you’re ready to roll whenever you find yourself in need of a cookie! Please note, you may have to add an additional 1-2 minutes on the bake time when baking from frozen.
Bourbon Confetti Cookies are a personal favorite! These gems are my spin on those classic butter cookies with rainbow sprinkles from the Italian bakery. Trips to the bakery were my version of Disney as a kid, and not much has changed!
These cookies are light, yet lush thanks to a secret ingredient in the dough, and hint of bourbon adds even more warmth and cozy to the situation. Covered in about 3,237,000 sprinkles, these are sure to add all the merry and bright to your holiday!
One cookie dough, 4 different cookies is how you sleigh the cookie swap! Couldn’t help myself with that one! We are all incredibly busy during the holidays, and baking 4 different cookies from one cookie dough is like my very own Christmas miracle! The Christmas trees are always a win with all ages, the blackberry almond thumbprints are impossible to stop at just one, and the fancy pants cappuccino star cookies are an absolute must!
So festive!
Thanks so much to all of you who’ve made so many of these cookies part of your holiday traditions! Remember to keep tagging me in your bakes over on Instagram so I can share them!
Make sure to keep an eye out for a special email from me early next week! Buttercream Blondie is growing, and I’m excited to share what I’ve been working on with you. Stay tuned!
Happy baking! xo
