In case you’ve ever wondered, I really do live in a pink world! Layers upon layers of buttercream piped to create a rose cake is kind of a dream come true for me, and one that I had to share with you guys! Most of the time when I make cakes like this, I wind up getting so involved (read: drowning in buttercream) that I usually don’t even have time to take a picture! I decided it was time to change that and start sharing more of these pieces with you. After all, every cake deserves its own place here!
You already know I’m all about the buttercream, but I think this kind of takes it to a new level! I created this cake for a bridal shower and was thrilled that I could pipe as much as my heart desired! When I do cakes like this, I let them swirl around in my head for a while, get a pretty clear picture of what I’d like to achieve and then go for it. I never really know how it’s going to turn out and that’s what I love most.
As soon as I had the top piped, I could see it start to take shape and I wound up using quite a few different shades of pink to create the ombré effect. I dusted the top with some luster dust just to give it a hint of shimmer and it really made the cake pop. Anytime I get to sprinkle a little sparkle, I’m happy!
I hate to be such a tease, but the inside was just as good as the outside. The bottom tier was a chocolate cake with cookies and cream filling and the top tier was a coconut cake with passion fruit mousse (also known as my favorite filling ever!), and then the buttercream was vanilla. I’m just sorry I don’t have a pic of the inside! I’ll work on that for next time!
Thanks so much for reading, I hope you guys enjoyed this one!
P.S. I know I’m usually pinker than pink, but isn’t this black and white shot so pretty? Maybe there’s hope for me yet 😉
