Chatting with a musician after a concert a few months ago somehow led to him asking if I could makeover swiss rolls. Random, I know, but that's how this makeover came about. Anyway, I thought it would be a fun project, but for some reason it went to the back of my head with about a million other ideas. Fast forward to a few weeks ago when my mom randomly told me it would be lovely if I made a nice swiss roll. At this point I figured somebody must be trying to tell me something so I finally decided to take a hint & get this ...
Irish Candy Bar Cupcakes
When I first decided to do this Saint Patrick's Day series, the one product I knew I wanted to include was the Crunchie candy bar. This Irish candy was one of my favorite childhood treats, and I couldn't wait to create a grown up dessert with it. I picked up a few last week along with some Flake bars, another favorite of mine, and got to work. What I came up with is a new cupcake that takes these candy bars to a whole new level. To give you some info on a Crunchie, it is a milk chocolate candy bar with a honeycombed center. ...
Chocolate & Passion Fruit Truffle Cake
Good morning and Happy Valentine's Day! Today I'm posting over at my friend Hillary's blog, Marche Dimanche. I met Hillary over the summer at TECHmunch, a food blogging conference, and we hit it off right away. We share a love of all things sweet and I am honored she asked me to guest post. Aside from being an avid dessert lover, Hillary is a food writer. She has lived in England, then Paris, and the South of France for many years. Hillary has spent years dining in the finest restaurants throughout Europe, so let's just say she knows good ...
S’mores Got Sass
This probably isn't going to shock anyone, but I've never gone camping. There's no doubt that I'm as city as they get, and outdoorsy is definitely not a word that would ever be used to describe me. Some people find the calm and quiet of the outdoors relaxing, but it really freaks me out. See, in my neck of the woods ambulances and fire trucks drive down my street all day long blaring their sirens. I admit that sometimes it can drive me up a wall, but mostly it's a reminder that I'm smack in the middle of all the action, and that's ...
Grown Up & Glammed Up Eskimo Pie
A few weeks ago I received a call from Lynne, the President of How2Heroes, asking if I could give the classic Eskimo Pie a makeover. I thought about it for all of about two seconds and then jumped at the chance. I love projects, and more importantly I love a good makeover! A few days later somewhere during the fifth mile of my run, it hit me, Nutella! I knew if Nutella was going to be involved, then Frangelico needed to get in on this too! I really liked where this dessert was going, ...
