I think we can officially dub this the year of the caramel apple! We’ve done sprinkled, outrageous peanut butter turtles and I think today’s may be my favorite yet. The “Holiday” caramel apple is festive, elegant and just so happens to be my favorite holiday flavor combination ever! Crisp apples dipped in homemade caramel and then plunged into silky, smooth white chocolate, and covered in chopped pistachios and dried cranberries. They’re fabulous for holiday parties, gifting, or to treat yourself!
So today is the last recipe in the “Celebrate the Seasons” campaign for my friends at Farberware and we’re going out in style! I wanted to create a caramel apple that screamed holiday and I’m quite happy with how these turned out. Not only are they dangerously delicious, but they look fabulous on a holiday table.
They’re also a nice break from the cookie madness that happens this time of year! If you’re following me on Instagram, you already know I baked around 5,546,789 cookies this week… Caramel apples are definitely a welcome break and they make stunning gifts!
The best part about this whole situation is how they taste! You already know you’re getting that buttery homemade caramel to begin with. Next you get the white chocolate and I want to remind you that you should use a good quality chocolate here, such as Callebaut. It makes a big difference in the fluidity and the taste. Just when you think life can’t get any better, you get the crunch from the pistachios and the pop of dried cranberries. You could even add a little sprinkle of sea salt to this party if you’re a fan of the salty/sweet combo.
These were made for sharing if you can bring yourself to part with any of it!
After I finished making these, I noticed they were a bit on the heavy side so as you’ll see in the photo above, I added some melted white chocolate right on the top around the craft stick to make sure it was secure.
While they are great for gifting, these are fabulous for New Years! Slice up a few caramel apples, set out some wine and you’re all set. This may just become a new tradition!
