Happy New Year, friends! Did you all enjoy the holiday? Happy it’s over? I love the holidays, but I am equally grateful for some calm – even if it’s only a few days! So today’s post is one that I look forward to all year because it’s all about you. The best desserts of the year aren’t just the desserts that got the most love in the numbers department, they’re the desserts you guys made most, commented on, sent emails, snapped photos and I think there may have even been a love letter about the Irish Whiskey Cake…
File that one under reasons we get along so well.
I was thrilled to see the Black Forest Cupcakes made the cut because those cupcakes are epic if I do say so myself! The amaretto paired with the chocolate, and the whipped mascarpone frosting, and the vanilla bean roasted cherries are everything the modern Black Forest cake should be! And we also launched the new baking series, Flirt with Dessert, this year (insert every excited emoji right here!) and I promise there are more videos to come! Spoiler alert: Cake decorating vids are on the way!
You know what else makes me beam with happiness? The fact that you guys love boozy desserts and cake and rainbow sprinkles as much as I do! This round-up definitely has it all, from retro treats to epic layer cakes, and it’s definitely one to save, pin and share for future reference! Did your favorites make the list?
10. Jacked-Up Red Velvet Whoopie Pies
9. Homemade Bourbon Banana Pudding
8. Strawberry Rhubarb Creamsicles
7. No-Bake Peanut Butter Krispie Treats
6. Boozy Irish Cream Cheesecake Pops with Video
5. Raspberry Lemon Cupcakes
4. The Pink Squirrel 2.0: Roasted Strawberry Milkshakes
3. Black Forest Cupcakes with Video
2. Tipsy Whiskey Layer Cake
1. Raspberry Lemon Ruffle Cake
While I love every creation I share with you, I cannot even tell you how many times I’ve made the Irish Whiskey Cake. And that raspberry buttercream sitting pretty on that ruffle cake is magical. If you have yet to make it, you might want to add that to your list of goals for the year. I think I may need to do a meyer lemon variation of that cake, like asap!
Thank you so much for spending time here, baking recipes, commenting, emailing and following and sharing along on Instagram and Facebook! And another huge thank you for all of you that took part in the Pure Holiday series this season. Thanks for taking part in the weekly challenges, making all the recipes – (how good were those lasagna rolls?) and entering the giveaways!
As always, if there’s a recipe or tutorial you’d like to see on Buttercream Blondie, let me know! There are some sweet things in store for 2016 and I cannot wait to share them with you! Thanks so much for being part of it!
Happy baking!
